Cowboy Casanova Photoshoot

I had the pleasure of being able to go on a photoshoot right here in my own backyard (Temecula!)

Held at the TCR Ranch..about 50 photogs gathered to take part in the theme "Cowboy Casanova" shoot.

The grounds to the estate were amazing..and the models were just so professional, beautiful and friendly!

Let the FUN begin!!!!
Im heading out later today to my first photoshoot workshop called 'Trash the Dress" that Nick Corona Photography is hosting! I can't wait!

Then tomorrow.. the SoCal Photog Shootout will be held at a ranch/estate in Temecula..and the theme this month is "Cowboy Casanova" (think Carrie Underwood's video)

I'll be here this morning.. nervously twitching.. pacing.. limbering up my trigger finger!

Remembering Penny..
balloons were sent off to the heavens to let her know we love her and think of her everyday!
The day was perfect.. beautiful blue skies polka-dotted with white fluffy clouds..and a light wind. Just enough wind to send our heavenly messages up into the clouds :)

I also sent a message to my dad, my brother, and Tippy & Honey..

It's still hard to believe they are not with us anymore..and my eyes fill with tears each time that reality sets in..
but i know they are in my heart.. i know they appear in my dreams..and i know they are keeping watch from those white fluffy clouds up in the sky..

Tomorrow (April 13th) would have been Penny's 57th birthday..and as a celebration of her time here..and in remembrance of her..a bunch of us will be letting off red, lime green, and yellow balloons at 11 am pacific time in her honor.
I hope if you read this.. and want to participate.. you will do so too :) If you can't let off balloons.. i think Penny would enjoy a good solid minute (or heck..make a day of it!) of not silence.. but of laughter, jubilation, cheering, celebrating and being silly..i know she'd have a good chuckle over that!!

Essa enjoys visiting everyday to play with her friends.. running and romping and wrestling..and getting pretty tuckered out by the end of an hour!
We've met all kinds of dogs.. all different breeds.. all different personalities..and everyone gets along very well!
Socializing is soooo important at a young age..Im so glad we found this place..and so glad to have made new friends .. both four-legged and the two legged kind :)

Essa has been having fun at the dog park. We've been hitting the park every day..and letting her run, sniff, explore, dig, and making new friends.

yesterday morning she got to meet Blitz..a weimaraner.. who was just beautiful! His owner said that weimaraners are suppose to weigh about 80 pounds max.. but his 'Blitz" was topping the scales at 120!!
He was solid and like a freight train! Essa gave him a run for his money.. and after about 10 min..we said our goodbyes. Once we got to the car..the poor lil girl was POOPED out! I think i heard her say.."Wow Mom..he was Big! Will i ever get that big someday?" lol..

poor essa-peppers had to go to the doc on thurs. to be spayed :( I didn't realize they were going to keep her all nite! :(
This momma missed her lil baby...it was strange not having her under-foot..or snuggling with her!
She's back home now.. with 5 lil stitches on her tummy :( Im torn..i would have sooooo wanted her to have babies.. I've never had the experience of a litter of puppies before. But..we are being responsible pet owners..and dang it..i hate it lol

Although this turkey day, we sadly missed my dad and his silly jokes and charming ways.. i feel he was with us the entire time..

so..to keep things 'light'..and in keeping with the tradition..me, my mom and my mother in law went and had a pedicure and came home with fancy toes :)

Mom opted for "pretty in pink"..and my mother in law went with a silvery white snowflake..
I opted for sexy red.. and then when the girl asked me what design I wanted on my toe.. i decided to go with a 'paw print'.. as i am a new puppy mommy and thought it would be cute :)
Not too certain if it looks like a pawprint tho..

We're heading to Vegas, baby! But first..a stop over in Calico to rest..and to let Essa explore!
Her and Tippy did well during the drive.. Tippy doesn't mind the dog as long as Essa keeps her distance! Hopefully, in time, Tippy will come around and not be such a poopie-head!
Essa sleeps in her crate during the nite..and I only heard her whimper at 12:49 am and again at 2:01. I was tempted to get up and let her out..but resisted and fell back asleep.
Tim and I were awake by 5 am..and by 6 am..Essa finally woke up. She waits patiently while we make our pot of coffee and for us to get our shoes on.
She is such a good dog..she's so easy goin!!
After doing her business outside.. and shivering..(it's Coldddd here in Calico this morning..only about 45!) .. she's ready to play for a bit..and then its back to cuddle time! :)

Heading on the road in a bit for Vegas.. can't wait to mee up with our friends for the Annual Chili Cookoff! Friends of ours in Vegas do this annually..and even give out trophies!!! This will be our first year attending...and I hope our chili places!! :)
But first .. tonite's events include a cocktail and tattoo party at 3pm!!!!!!
Who will be brave enough to get ink'd????

Good Morning Blogland Peeps :)
We are off bright and early this morning...driving the RV up to Oregon!!! IM SO EXCITED and TITILLATED!! heehheee
We'll be stopping at and visiting with some goood friends, Christy and her "Elf".. hittin' the town in Portlandia..enjoying lots of libations such as the one pictured above ;) .. and hoping for some nice yummy fall weather :)
Then it's off to the Coast.. Waldport to be exact, for a couple of nites. Can't wait to see the Oregon Coast!
Then we'll slowly make our way down Hwy. 1... stopping in Manchester Bay...San Fran.. Monterey.. Ohhhh the Places we'll Go!! :)

Escape with me to Big Bear

~Big Bear Lake~
ahhhhh...Tim and I escaped to Big Bear this past week..and had the pleasure of cuddling up in the RV while listening to the pitter patter of raindrops on our roof :)

Such a sweet sound...especially when rain or any sort of moisture is rare in southern California!
Oh how I miss the downpours..the sideways rainstorms..the wind..the excitement of the East Coast weather fronts that used to blow thru :(

While Tim "worked" ..I got to explore and make new friends.. such as the one below that I nicknamed "Gimpy".
Gimpy had a back right foot that was swollen and caused him to walk with a gimp..and he even sat funny! He loved the tortilla chips and leftover dog food that I found..and trusted me enough to come right up and take it from my hand :)

(Tippy can never see these pictures or know of this..or he would never purr for me again!!)

Simple things such as clouds after a storm..and the delicate flowers that surrounded our campsite kept me and my camera busy while I relaxed.

I can't wait to return..maybe in November.. and hope for a chance of snow flakes to fall...ahhhhhh life is good :)

WOw..My apologies..
I've been a very bad blogger!!!

Between Vegas..and camping..and family issues..and matters of the heart..and more camping..and moving my daughter back home..and then Rockband..and Wii..and that STooooPid Mafia Wars on facebook.. i've lost all track of of life online!!! YIKES!!

I did take some pictures a couple of weeks ago.. of flowers that were in my backyard..
thats about the only creative thing i've done!!

Whew..
Now that all of the family health issues and concerns are slowly 'mending'.. Tim and I have decided to take off.. head to the desert...and even VEGAS baby! to spend some very much needed R&R time with each other..and friends!
Christy and her hubby are flying into Vegas on Thurs..and we'll meet up with them then..to parttttay away the weekend!!
I CANT WAIT!!
We'll also be stopping in Calico, CA to visit a Ghost Town and plan on doing some 'geocaching' !

This is "Gary" (Tim has his GPS that he named, "Martha"...well this is my GPS for when we go geocaching..and I've named him "Gary Garmin" hehehehe)

I hope to get lots of pics to share with you when we return :)

The Road to Recovery...

We received the some really good news tonite that my mother in law, Pat, made it thru surgery just fine :)
The doc went in and removed the mass from her lung..and didn't find anything else suspicious while in there. :)
She's a bit groggy still.. but I know she will be back on her feet before we know it!

She's a fighter..and one of the strongest women I've been blessed to know and have in my life.

This picture sums it up best... (click on picture for a lil bigger view)

Taken while we were in Hawaii last February..Mom stopping to take a picture of the cross at the top of the hill..

Her faith is the strongest I've ever come across..and her love and commitment to God even stronger yet. Her road may seem long, but she will have help from all of us to make her way back to a full recovery.

I, we, still have so much more to learn from her..and am truly blessed that she is my mother in law.

Stay tuff Mom..and hurry back home!

i have many reasons for loving where i live..and one of them is that the blossoms pop out really early here :)
a reminder that a new spring, with fresh beginnings are on its way..and that we should keep faith that life will somehow work out ok.

Man..there's nothing greater than the light reflecting off the snow to capture some pretty shots! This is "Oscar"..my brother's dog who lives at my Mom and Dad's house. He's still a puppy.. (7 mos. old)..and is a HORSE! He jumps up on me..he's TALLER than me!! NOT FAIR!

.. Hospitals are gross ...

but snowflakes are pretty..and fun :)

Mom and I at the hospital in Medina, NY today to see my Dad. He went into emergency surgery on monday to have a pacemaker put in. :( He was in critical condition..and made it thru surgery ok. The pacemaker is doing great according to the doctors and nurses.. but his blood (hct) level is a little low..so they are giving him a couple of units of blood right now.

Hopefully when we go back after dinner..he will be looking a little better.

It started after midnite last nite..and hasn't stopped yet!! IM SOOOO EXCITED!!!! I feel like a little kid again!!! :)

I even got to go out and shovel..take pics..and play with the dog in the SNOW!!! weeeeeeeee!!

Typographic Poster - Got Wood??

Ok..so having a cold can be a good thing..cuz it forces you to sit and do nothing..or at least something that doesn't require too much movement ..

so thats what I did..

Chris over at Spooner Graphics gives a great tutorial on how to create a typographic poster..

check it out and give it a try!

although i had troubles trying to space out my words evenly..grrrr.. it was fun..and maybe if i had spent another hour tweaking it..it might just be perfect lol

"Tippecanoe" Ave = a street in San Bernadino that i just love saying.. and cuz if it wasn't for this word.."Tippy" the kitty would have some other strange name.

"Truffles" = one word: YUM

"Tampons" = thank the lord for the cotton pony sticks! how you ladies can wear those big honkin pads I'll never know!

"Thumbs" = dogs wish they had them! (and my thumb got me thru many a nites as a child! im fortunate I didn't grow 'buckers')

"Thumper" = my favorite Bambi character.

OK.. now its your turn. Im sure i have plenty more "T" words that i love or am grateful for.. but if I continue on under this 'tylenol induced haze' that Im experiencing.. the list may never end!

L.A. at Nite

Tim and I headed into LA the other nite for a party..and stayed at the Hilton LAX.. 14th floor..corner room..and had an amazing view of the Airport ..

The lights at nite were way cool... and the sunset was amazing.

Things that make me smile this morning...

1. A smile because the Chargers won last nite against the Colts!!

2. Betsy-Boo rubbing up against my legs this morning as she greets me with a "Good Morning..please feed me!" meow.

3. These quilled hearts. I've made about a hundred of them.. now to figure out what to do with them! Feel free to offer suggestions!

4. Tippy.. for just being so darn cute!

5. Hearing the birds singing this morning.. I don't know why.. but this morning they seem particulary 'chirpier'
6. Something in the morning air that feels like its going to be a nice day.

7. The warmth of the sun on my cheeks as I stand and wait for Honey to 'do her thing'.

8. Knowing back inside..there is fresh coffee :)

9. Having all my kids home last nite.. under one roof.. playing playstation together.

10. Hearing the sounds of kids wandering around.. watching Tim read the paper.. and feeling loved.

Hunting for the Pickle...

The Christmas Pickle

"In Old World Germany, the last decoration placed on the Christmas Tree was always a pickle...carefully hidden deep in the boughs.

Legend has it that the observant child who found it on Christmas Day was blessed with a year of good fortune...and a special gift"

They searched...and they searched...

And Andy found it!!!

Im so kicking myself in the rear for not starting this 'tradition' years ago..as it kept my three 'kids' entertained for about 20 minutes trying to find that darned pickle hiding in the tree (tim..you did an awesome job hiding that sucker!!)

It was so funny watching them trying to find that glass pickle ornament.. and when Tim told us he could see it from where he was sitting on the floor..they all dropped to their knees and began a deeper search. Even I (with an experienced 'uterus' which is known to be a secret tracking device and finder of all things lost")..couldn't find it!!
Once I did spy it..it was amazing that they were all just soooo close..and practically staring at it the whole time! It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack!

But in the end...Andy was the winner of the Pickle hunt..and because they all showed such great enthusiasm in trying to find it first..we rewarded them with letting them each open a present :)

I can imagine how this scene would have played out years ago.. with one kid finding the pickle and the other two crying because they 'lost'..or it 'wasn't fair'.. or it was 'hidden too deep'... or 'hidden too high'.. 'he's taller'..'she's shorter'.. excuses! So maybe it's better we started this game as 'grown ups' LOL

I loved having all three kids home on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day :)

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas filled with family love..and I hope you all have a prosperous and healthy New Year :)
